Research has revealed that this windmill was a Zenith, made by Lowe Bros. of Annandale, Sydney in 1912-1915. Two sizes of this mill have been found, one with an 8 ft windwheel and the other with what is thought to be a 10 or 12 ft windwheel.
The actual mills were photographed a thousand kilometres apart, in northern and southern New South Wales, Australia. Remains of another have since been found in Victoria.
There are no discernible markings on the parts, or indication of the country of manufacture. However, the detail in the castings would indicate that this mill was constructed in a very capable foundry, but some of the detail in the design like the tail suggest that it may be from quite an early period.
The tail vane (not pictured) is made from a sheet of small pattern galvanised corrugated iron.
It was estimated that construction date could be between 1890 to 1940. Now confirmed to be between 1912-1915.
